Itinerary

Take a scenic 1.5 hours drive to Ho Chi Minh city, formerly known as Saigon before 1975, the biggest melting pot of Vietnam with 10 millions of inhabitants living. Tour the China town on a private pedicab through small streets, shop at Binh Tay wholesale market then visit the 1760 Sea Goddess temple.

Next, explore the old French quarter then stop by a local secret weapon storage since 1946 for a true Vietnamese coffee “Cafe Sua Da”. Walk along the local hidden alleys to the venerable Thich Quang Duc monument, who self-immolated at the intersection of Nguyen Dinh Chieu and Cach Mang Thang Tam street on Jun 11th, 1963.

Visit the “must see” War Remnants museum in distric 3, then take a short walk to the nearby Presidential Palace which was once the heaquarters of South Vietnam until April 30th, 1975. Visit the Basilica of Saigon, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Gustav Eiffel designed Saigon Post Office, 1886-1891. Stroll along the Rue Catinat, Dong Khoi street nowadays, visit the city landmarks: Saigon Opera House, Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Hall, Caravelle Hotel and Continental Hotel.

Lunch at a local restaurant in an old French opium refinery restaurant with Chef’s selected Vietnamese set menu. Free time for shopping along Dong Khoi street, before sitting down at the renown Roof Top bar for a drink. It’s time to unwind and relax after a long day of history lessons and real life stories from an insider.
